Urgent Appointment System Changes – 7th January 2019

From 7th January 2019 we will be making changes to the way you book URGENT appointments.

If you feel that you need to be seen urgently, you will be triaged.  This means that when you contact the surgery you will be placed on the telephone triage list.  Our receptionists will take details of your symptoms and a contact number for you.  A clinician will then phone you back and from the history and details that you give, will decide if you need to be seen urgently, or whether the problem requires you to book a routine appointment or indeed signpost you to a pharmacist etc.

This will enable us to provide an enhanced service for our patients- making more routine appointments available with the GP’s and hopefully reducing our DNA (Did Not Attend).  Unfortunately patients are still wasting valuable appointments by not cancelling unwanted appointments.

Please ensure that you give the receptionist a number that the clinician can contact you on directly.  The clinician will contact you relatively quickly- usually within 2 hours.  They will only try TWICE if you do not answer they will finish the appointment and if you still require medical attention you will have to contact the surgery again to be placed back on the triage list.
